چکیده
The characterization of sound fields over space is fundamental in acoustics. Yet, the volumetric acquisition using conventional electromechanical transducers challenging due to high sampling requirements needed a three-dimensional domain. In this study, we introduce an acousto-optic sensing method remotely sample acoustic volume sparse set noninvasive optical measurements. Optical methods that use light as element have drawn significant attention recently, since they allow for remote, with fine spatial resolution. practical deployment acoustics, however, has been hindered by limited data available, and unsuitability existing reconstruct scarce-data regimes. proposed methodology relies on projecting measured basis satisfies wave equation, thus alleviating measurement associated traditional reconstruction methods. approach leads accuracy improvements 20 dB relative current methods, 90% reduction data. We demonstrate experimentally reconstructing situ field inside room from remote measurements interaction. These results are key advancing acousto-optical which currently simplified domains. work presented paper brings about possibility solve so far intractable problems, such complex fields.

We present a new concept for waveguide acousto-optical devices based on coupled Mach–Zehnder interferometers driven by acoustic waves. These acousto-optical multiple interference devices use the periodic refractive index modulation induced by the acoustic wave to realize functionalities such as ON/OFF switching for an arbitrary time interval, as well as for efficient light modulation at high ha...
متن کاملCombined effects of optical and acoustic birefringence on acousto-optic mode coupling in photonic crystal fiber.
We investigate in detail the origin of multiple resonance peaks experimentally observed in an all-fiber acousto-optic tunable filter built with a photonic crystal fiber having slightly deformed air-hole structure and non-circular outer cladding. A model for the acousto-optic mode coupling in the PCF is formulated taking into account both the acoustic and the optical birefringence. All experimen...
متن کاملSpatial sensitivity of acousto-optic and optical near-infrared spectroscopy sensing measurements.
Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) is a popular sensing technique to measure tissue oxygenation noninvasively. However, the region of interest (ROI) is often beneath a superficial layer, which affects its accuracy. By applying focused ultrasound in the ROI, acousto-optic (AO) techniques can potentially minimize the effect of physiological changes in the superficial layer. Using absorption pertur...

This article reviews two types of ultrasound-mediated biophotonic imaging-acousto-optical tomography (AOT, also called ultrasound-modulated optical tomography) and photo-acoustic tomography (PAT, also called opto-acoustic or thermo-acoustic tomography)-both of which are based on non-ionizing optical and ultrasonic waves. The goal of these technologies is to combine the contrast advantage of the...
